Peri-Peri Sauce Paired with Homemade Plantain Chips

Peri-Peri Sauce Paired with Homemade Plantain Chips

I absolutely love the versatility of our peri-peri seasoning blend. It's a game-changer in the kitchen, simplifying recipes and packing them with flavor. Our blend includes the authentic African bird's eye chili, adding a genuine taste to your dish.

Lately, I've been experimenting with dipping sauces. There's something about a good sauce that elevates the entire eating experience, adding both flavor and texture. I believe food shouldn't be basic; every bite should be an explosion of taste!

One of my favorite snacks is plantain chips. They’re easy to make if you have the patience to peel the skins. For this recipe, I decided to pair my homemade plantain chips with a zesty peri-peri sauce, and the result was AMAZING!

This sauce is perfect not just for plantain chips, but also as a dip for veggies, a marinade for meats, or a spread on sandwiches. It's incredibly versatile and brings a delicious, and nice kick to whatever you pair it with.

Here's how you can make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 2-3 tsp TK's Peri-Peri blend
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • 1 cup cilantro, roughly chopped (or a handful)
  • 1 tbsp sour cream (optional, for creamy version)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • ⅓ cup water
  • Salt

Instructions:

  • In a pan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped bell pepper, onion, and a small amount of cilantro. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the chopped tomato and TK's Peri-Peri blend, and salt to the pan. Stir and let it simmer for 3 minutes.
  • Add the white vinegar and lemon juice to the pan. Simmer for 1 more minute.
  • Transfer the content to a blender. Add the remaining cilantro, ⅓ cup olive oil, and ⅓ cup water, and blend until smooth.
Serve and Store:
  • For the dipping sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of sour cream into half of the blended sauce. This version was paired with the homemade plantain chips.
  • The remaining peri-peri sauce can be used as a dip, marinade, or spread. It’s also great with veggies, meats, or even on sandwiches.
  • Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge.
